Dev Diary: More information about the the Summer 2016 Football Event
Dear Settlers,
Pull up your socks and lace up your boots, it's nearly time for kick off!
This year, join Football fans again in celebrating this popular sport during The Summer 2016 Football Event.
- Start: 14th of June 2016 00.00 GMT (02.00 CEST)
- Removal Phase: 5th of July 2016 00.00 GMT (02.00 CEST)
- Deactivation: 12th of July 2016 00.00 GMT (02.00 CEST)
Most of the features from the last Summer Football Event have been kept. Based on player feedback, the Tactical Resources and the Tactical Items used to complete the Special Event Adventures have been rebalanced. The event calendar returns as the Fixture List, Adventure Tournament Mode is introduced and 2 new unique Trophies become available.
On top of that, Summer Event exclusive items like the Lucky Explorer, Building Licenses and Flowerbed flags are making a comeback.A new kind of building, the "Footie Pitch" (Culture Building) can be obtained using Footballs.
A Pre-Event Conversion was done with the version deployment end of May / early June.
During the conversion, left-over Tactical Resources "Twister" and "Corner" were converted to the new "Training Dummy". All left-over "Bicycle Kick" and "Corner Ball" items were removed and compensated for with the new "Feint" Tactical Item.
New aspects & changes are highlighted in blue colour.
The event resource is called Footballs. They can be traded and are listed in the Storehouse (Event tab) as usual.
Footballs can be gathered in a variety of ways: - Rewards for unlocking Event Achievements
- Rewards for completing Event Quests
- Rewards for completing adventures *
- Explorer loot from treasure searches:
- 100% chance on all searches, except short ones
- Short searches have a chance of 80% to get footballs (20% = 2 footballs, 60% = 1 football, 20% = no footballs)
- Collectible Items on the home island
- Fixture List
- Trading with other players
- In-game Shop

No extra clicking is needed this event to claim the final reward.

You can use your Provision House to produce the 8 Tactical Items available this year.- Tactical Items are needed to successfully complete Event Adventures.
- Most items are usable against multiple different skills.
- They are produced from combinations of types of 2 Tactical Resources (except for "Red Card", that requires Advanced Paper)
- Because of the rebalancing, all left-over "Bicycle Kick" and "Corner Ball" items were removed and compensated for with the new "Feint" Tactical Item in the Pre-event Conversion.
Adventure Doors can be opened any time for free, once the respective date was reached (even if previous doors were not opened).
Therefore, every player is able to play all the available adventures.
5 non-combat Event Adventures inspired by football matches become available through the Fixture List.
Their rewards have been rebalanced compared to 2014.
The goal of the Special Event Adventures is to win football matches by countering all of the opponent’s skills.
You do this by applying the correct Tactical Items. Every opponent unit/skill can be defeated by either of two Tactical Items (your choice).
Adventure Tournament Mode
This year, your matches have to be completed in order. You will not be able to start an adventure if you haven’t completed the quest to beat the previous one first (*). To make things easier, the adventures return to you by mail if you cancel them. Your progress will not be saved, but you won’t get stuck and you can use this method to scout your opponent’s skills.
* The adventure "Practice match" does not have to be completed.
The Summer 2016 Event introduces new football-related achievements.
You can get the award for "Talent Scout", click your way to "Fan Club President", become the "Assistant Coach" or all of the above.
The Event Achievements are listed separately and don't count for the overall score in "General Achievements".
On top of the glory, when a new achievement unlocks, you also get Event resources to spend as you wish.

We are introducing a new type of building this year: the
Footie Pitch is our first Culture building.
- Culture buildings have the ability to buff your home island for a limited time by applying zone-wide buffs
- Using those abilities costs resources and triggers a cool-down period during which the building cannot be used again
- Indestructible while on cool-down, but it can be moved around
- Can not be upgraded
The Footie Pitch gives a choice between two buffs every time you use it.
Once per day, it can either improve your population growth (including Village schools!) or the productivity of all your Weaponsmiths.
